    This poster does nothing for me. Maybe seeing it in larger format, but this is underwhelming–and I like minimalist.

    I don’t like Bana in these thinking roles. No emotions. No comedy. I’m guessing his character here is a tortured introvert.

    I don’t really see a connection… you could say the Sun in the Empire of the Sun poster is from the window of the Color Purple poster if you want to stretch that far.

    oh lordy. That’s a bad poster.
    That does not say ANYTHING about the film whatsoever. Why isn’t the Olympics flag waving outside the window? Or… or… i dunno. Something. That just makes it look like a bad German art movie.
    The only reason though that I would suspect this being a fake is because they haven’t plastered Spielberg’s importance all over it.
    Plus, I much prefered the originally touted name of “Vengeance”.
    Angelus, have you see the Australian movie “Chopper”? He’s brilliant in that one. And cause I’m Australian I had grown up essentially watching him as a stand-up comedian and as a star of a sketch comedy show called Full Frontal. From Poyta to Chopper.

    That was the point I was making. I don’t like Bana in these introspective roles. I like when hes taking chances, funny, getting to show off his talent. Troy, Hulk, I assume Munich, don’t get to showcase his great talent.

    How many people have seen Chopper? This movie will hopefully be a way to showcase his talent AND have it in front of a mass audience in a way that Hulk or Troy didn’t.

    That’s why it’s called a breakthrough. Bana would break through to non-obsessive fans who don’t see small movies.

    So, like I said they should go out and rent it if they haven’t seen it. And in the future he should start taking more roles like that than these low key roles. Is that clearer Jeff?

    Don’t get upset, we’re on the same side. People aren’t going to rent Chopper if they don’t have a reason to. A great performance in Munich might be that reason.

    I, and a few others, have heaped praise on Chopper and told people to rent it. I’m not starting a mass advertising campaign. I’m talking to the people that come here that may not have seen it or even heard of it and want to know whats the big deal with this Bana guy. Isn’t that reason enough to rent it?
    You mean to tell me you come here everyday and you don’t listen to what others say about great movies and check them out? Why even come here if not to learn?

    All I’m doing is agreeing with the person who said “this could be a breakthrough for Bana” which, if the movie is good and the performance is strong. Hulk and Troy didn’t make him a household name. This movie might.

    He won’t be a household name unless he hooks up with Jessica Simpson or a Hilton or steals Aneglina Jolie from Pitt or joins Scientology and jumps on a couch.
    He should stick to the great work.

    Ugh. He was horrible in Hulk! Chopper, Black Hawk Down now this (and even Troy sort of) are the best for him. Also, a great smaller comedic turn in The Castle! “Kick boxing… 24 hours a DAY!”

    I would also like to express my agreement with KamikazeCamelV2.0 on the point about this project’s title. “Vengeance” is such an awesome title compared to the incredibly dull and unoriginal “Munich.” Even “Schindler’s List” is a much better title than “Munich.” Yeah, calling it “Vengeance” no doubt makes it less marketable, as audiences wouldn’t be so clear on the subject, but the old working title had such emotion, such meaning, such weight, and such an EDGE with it. Anyone agree?
    In case you haven’t seen, the Munich Web site uses the above poster image, so it’s authentic as far as being officially attached to the movie. And in case you haven’t heard (or seen), the trailer for it is now posted there.

It shows how out of it I was in trying to be in it, acknowledging that I was out of it to myself, and then thinking, “Okay, how do I stop being out of it? Well, I get some legitimate illogical narrative ideas” — some novel, you know?

So I decided on three writers that I might be able to option their material and get some producer, or myself as producer, and then get some writer to do a screenplay on it, and maybe make a movie.

And so the three projects were “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep,” “Naked Lunch” and a collection of Bukowski. Which, in 1975, forget it — I mean, that was nuts. Hollywood would not touch any of that, but I was looking for something commercial, and I thought that all of these things were coming.

There would be no Blade Runner if there was no Ray Bradbury. I couldn’t find Philip K. Dick. His agent didn’t even know where he was. And so I gave up.

I was walking down the street and I ran into Bradbury — he directed a play that I was going to do as an actor, so we know each other, but he yelled “hi” — and I’d forgot who he was.

So at my girlfriend Barbara Hershey’s urging — I was with her at that moment — she said, “Talk to him! That guy really wants to talk to you,” and I said “No, fuck him,” and keep walking.

But then I did, and then I realized who it was, and I thought, “Wait, he’s in that realm, maybe he knows Philip K. Dick.” I said, “You know a guy named—” “Yeah, sure — you want his phone number?”

“That was the most disappointing thing to me in how this thing was played. Is that I’m on the phone with you now, after all that’s been said, and the fundamental distinction between what James is dealing with in these other cases is not actually brought to the fore. The fundamental difference is that James Franco didn’t seek to use his position to have sex with anyone. There’s not a case of that. He wasn’t using his position or status to try to solicit a sexual favor from anyone. If he had — if that were what the accusation involved — the show would not have gone on. The one example in the five that involved an issue of a sexual act was between James and a woman he was dating, who he was not working with. There was no professional dynamic in any capacity.
