Thank you for dating this chart! It’s annoying when other sites post charts without dating them.
Ms Stone really has some out-there guesses.
Why isn’t Hammonds filled in? He is in the Les Mis camp, yes? So what does his #1 do? Move Les Mis into first postion? Thanks.
‘The Master’ seems to have lost lots of steam, I’m wondering if it will even get a best pic nod at this point. I guess it may inspire the most #1 votes.
That would be great if you had 10 nominees to honor what turned out to be a surprisingly good year in film. But still I guess the jury’s out on ‘Django Unchained’ … ? Could that upset the rhythm of the awards season thus far?
Does anybody even think ‘Django…’ is gonna make waves with AMPAS? I’m still excited for it (*especially* with all the talk of on-set turmoil), but does anyone have a sense of its greatness besides an escalating Weinstein FYC advertising campaign? (I guess he would be the guy to know if it can do well, but still…)
Here’s hoping ‘Amour’ can snag some semi-surprise nominations in the major categories…
Marion Cotillard should be in first place, she gave the best female performance of this year.
Pete isn’t on the chart because he submitted this morning after the chart went up. He’ll be added over the weekend.
Might wanna fix the Best Pic chart. The rows of Django and Flight are overlapped.
Does it strike anyone else as odd that after three Jackson/Tolkien adaptations being massive Oscar magnets nobody seems to be predicting anything for the next one? Is everyone just over it? Does that portend mediocre BO?
Been reading from recently published Kushner’s Lincoln screenplay and it only made me respect what he and Spielberg accomplished even more. The screenplay is fantastic (and a bit shorter than I expected) but there is a lot of very very clever directing going on. And the film is so directly transportive and such a balancing act in avoiding stagy-ness. Great, great film.
Way too much faith has been lost in “The Sessions,” at least I hope that’s the case.
LINCOLN did not happen for me – at all. A movie about equality, and equal parts had zero unification.
Glad to see Middle of Nowhere here. The best subversion of expectation I’ve experienced this year on screen. Read the script a couple days ago and she’s got chops.
Dave’s Best Pic list has no #8.
Weirdly, in a not-exactly-jam-packed-with-contenders year, I don’t think Barbra Streisand is out of the question on the best actress long list. She’s surprisingly subtle and moving in “The Guilt Trip” and she’s really the main character. (On the other hand, not sure if she has a favorable — or any — profile with Oscar voters nowadays.)
Saw The Guilt Trip yesterday and I think Streisand is a contender (if enough voters see her). This is some of the best acting she has ever done. The way she uses her eyes is amazing. Extremely moving performance.
