  1. Tuck Pendelton says:

I still give Spielberg the edge. Though I don’t argue with any of the other #1s

  2. Alex Thomas says:

I feel pretty comfortable saying DeNiro won’t win. That being said, I struggle to split Waltz + Tommy Lee.

  3. Sam says:

Shocked to see a consensus around De Niro. Correct me if I’m wrong, but he’s won ZERO precursors, right? Certainly none of the more predictive ones. Clearly the Academy might choose to go its own way, but why presuppose it will, and moreover presuppose it’ll be De Niro that will benefit? Why not Arkin or Hoffman?

I don’t see any reason not to guess Tommy Lee Jones here. Not saying he’ll win; I just don’t see any convincing reasons why it would be any particular other person.

  4. Predicting Supporting Actor is so difficult haha.

  5. Krillian says:

I just wish one of the Best Supp Actor nominees didn’t already have an Oscar so I could root for him to pull off the upset.

  6. waterbucket says:

Ang Lee??? I’d love it if that came true.

  7. samguy says:

Kind of sucky that Speilberg couldn’t win any Oscars until he went “serious.” To me, “Close Encounters” is a masterpiece.

  8. Patryk says:

If DiCaprio had been nominated for Supporting Actor in Django Unchained, he would have won in a walk.

  9. Jason says:

How did you guys know about Ang Lee? Seems like that was a last minute prediction here as Spielberg was leading the entire race. Would love to hear your thought process.
