A24’s Double-Barreled Weekend
PRESS RELEASE
A24 is thrilled to report the weekend estimates for our films, Ginger & Rosa (Sally Potter), and Spring Breakers (Harmony Korine).
GINGER & ROSA – Bolstered by fantastic reviews, particularly for Elle Fanning’s devastating performance (AO Scott said: “Elle Fanning shows a nearly Meryl Streep-ian mixture of poise, intensity and technical precision”)
Sally Potter’s most commercial film to date got off to a wonderful start in NY and LA. An increase of over 55% from Friday to Saturday demonstrates the strong word of mouth among the sophisticated arthouse audience).
It will expand to an additional six markets this Friday and continue to roll out to hundreds of theaters through early April.

SPRING BREAKERS – A cultural phenomenon was officially launched this weekend. Bolstered by rave reviews, infectious word of mouth, and an unprecedented digital and social presence, Harmony Korine’s film smashed all expectations. The film sold-out shows throughout the weekend in both NY and LA where screens continued to be added to help satiate the overwhelming demand. It played to overwhelmingly enthusiastic audiences who clapped, cheered, laughed, and left the theater quoting James Franco’s iconic character, Alien.
The movie will expand nationwide on March 22nd so the rest of the country can join the #SPRINGBREAKFOREVER movement.
