Universal Names Goldstine Head Of Worldwide Marketing
UNIVERSAL CITY, CA, May 29, 2014—Universal Pictures today announced that Josh Goldstine has been appointed to President Worldwide Marketing. The announcement was made by Universal Filmed Entertainment Chairman Jeff Shell and Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley, to whom Goldstine reports.
As President Domestic Marketing Goldstine currently oversees and orchestrates all aspects of Universal’s marketing efforts in North America. In his new position, Goldstine will lead the company’s global marketing efforts including creative advertising, media, publicity, promotions, digital marketing, home entertainment marketing and administration. Goldstine will continue to work closely with Co-President Domestic Marketing Michael Moses, who serves as his primary strategic partner and Executive Vice President, International Marketing, Simon Hewlett, who is based in London.

Goldstine has overseen marketing campaigns for many Universal hits including, most recently, Neighbors, Ride Along, Lone Survivor, Despicable Me 2, The Purge, andFast & Furious 6. His team’s successes have helped 19 films reach No. 1 at the domestic box office in the last three years including: Contraband, Safe House, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, Snow White and the Huntsman, Ted, The Bourne Legacy, the Academy Award®-winning Les Misérables, Mama, Identity Thief; Oblivion, Fast & Furious 6, The Purge, Despicable Me 2, 2 Guns, Riddick, Lone Survivor, Ride Along, Non-Stop andNeighbors. Goldstine and his team were instrumental in positioning the studio for its best year at the worldwide box office in 2013.
Before joining Universal in 2011, Goldstine spent two decades with Sony Pictures, where he held a variety of marketing positions including his most recent role as Senior Executive Vice President of Creative Advertising, since 2010. During his years at Sony, Goldstine led a number of marketing campaigns for films including the Academy Award®-winning The Social Network, Jerry MacGuire, the phenomenally successful Spider-Man franchise and eight pictures with Will Smith. Goldstine began his career at Columbia Pictures in 1991 as executive assistant to the President of Marketing and worked his way up the ranks holding senior positions in both Creative Advertising and Marketing, guiding the campaigns of some of Sony’s most successful films.
Goldstine has received dozens of advertising honors including numerous Key Art awards and gold medals from the New York and London Advertising Festivals. A 1990 graduate of Harvard University, he is based in Los Angeles where he lives with his wife and two children.
