  1. Quentin says:

What’s wrong with spelling it “The Hateful Eight”? Like actual words? Like on the poster?

  2. Franco Castiglione says:

The Martian and Matt Damon are EXTREMELY OVER-RATED!!! Not Anywhere near as good in quality or performance as “Gravity.” And although good and very likable, Damon is not even in the same league as the other actor’s here.
It was like a good TV movie, and Matt’s Thin Body double almost ruined it for me. It was so Obvious, that Matt went from buffed to thin to buffed again in Literally the same scenes. Very Poorly Edited.

As for Under-Rated, have you people not seen the OUTSTANDING Performance of Bryan Cranston in Trumbo???? My Lord, that man ACTS circles around Matt Damon. How on EARTH can you call yourself Critics, and not include his performance in your top 5, That is just UNBELIEVABLE!!!

  3. Dandi says:

Carol is way too high, and is being highly overpraised by critics in terms of Academy potential.

There is NO WAY all 4 female driven films get into Best Picture, being ROOM, CAROL, BROOKLYN and JOY.

    Top 5 contenders:

    1. Spotlight
    2. Brooklyn
    3. The Revenant
    4. The Martian
    5. Bridge of Spies

    6. Joy
    7. Inside Out
    8. Steve Jobs

    9. The Hateful Eight

  4. K. Bowen says:

OK, how is Michael Keaton in a supporting category? Who is he supporting, exactly?

  5. Daniella Isaacs says:

    He’s supporting “the ensemble.”

  6. JulieF says:

This is fascinating. I could see the winners being Brie, Rooney (if supporting), Leo, and either Stallone or one of the men from Spotlight. I think that Sasha Stone’s prediction of Sylvester Stallone is a good one. Just a tip—The Revenant is spelled wrong under Tom Hardy in the best supporting actor list.

  7. JulieF says:

I think Dandi’s general point about female-centered films is correct, but I see Joy being more likely to get in than Brooklyn, which I am excited to see. (love the novel)

  8. Daniella Isaacs says:

Sad thing is, all four of those “female centered films” are likely better than the wildly overpraised SPOTLIGHT. It struck me as something made for television in the 1980s.

  9. Vily says:

Please correct The Revenance to The Revenant under Tom Hardy’s name. Thank you!

  10. Patryk says:

I saw Creed, and no way am I buying the Stallone kool aid.

  11. Daniella Isaacs says:

I saw CREED, too, Patryk, and can completely see him winning. I can also see him losing, say to Mark Rylance. I wouldn’t bet on this race one way or the other.
