Heh, many still picking by heart. Miller is not happening guys. why he didnt won DGA? he only won CC it was given because Critics love Mad Max

And Spotlight…actually i think it has a shot. more than TBS because looks like PGA was just fluke.

Still its Revenant. Most typical BP. Huge epic just like Gladiator, Braveheart, Titanic. It came up late, so thats why it didnt get SAG nom. Its winnnig guys. even if you hate this film. its winning.

  2. Adam says:

You guys make me laugh. Winslet is winning this one easily. Great performance from a very well liked and respected actress in a loved movie by many with this being it’s only shot at an award. No one likes Danish Girl and Alicia’s nomination is her reward. She’s too new and fresh to win. If she was like Lupita and gave a truly memorable performance in a masterpiece movie, she could win. But she gave a good performance in a not-so-well received film.

  3. Daniella Isaacs says:

I disagree that Winslet is winning “easily,” Adam. Supporting Actress often goes to a fresh face in a so-so film: Mira Sorvino in MIGHTY APHRODITE and Angelina Jolie in GIRL, INTERRUPTED spring to mind. Vikander’s this year’s “it girl.” That said, I’d say it’s about even money with those two, with, indeed, Mara or Leigh as possible big surprises. It’s the most open category.

  4. Ben Kabak says:

No more overrated movie than Fury Road. So thin. A two hour car chase.

  5. Adam says:

Daniella I agree with you on the category often going to fresh faces, but those performances are undeniable. Mira Sorvino in Mighty Aphrodite and Angelina are giving much BIGGER and BETTER performances in a movies that maybe divisive but at least some people love them. No one loves or is passionate about The Danish Girl. Its just a meh film with a decent performance. No one cares.

  6. DR says:

I’m surprised they still think Spotlight has a strong chance at Best Picture. Yes, it was popular with film critics because it glorifies the work of a group of journalists, but that support doesn’t necessarily translate to support among Oscar voters. BAFTA and PGA have been more reliable indicators of Oscar success in recent years. I think The Revenant is the frontrunner with The Big Short a close second.

  7. Daniella Isaacs says:

I personally thought Sorvino was very mediocre in one of Allen’s lesser films, but who knows? Maybe she won because, you know, it was a broad female performance Woody Allen film, which seems to be enough.
