The Golden Globes feels like those $15-per-ticket Ticketmaster service fees, everyone knows that it’s a kind of illegitimate con but for some reason an entire industry has agreed to let it happen because it works

I love the color of Lady Gaga’s dress.

When @goldenglobes host #SandraOh took a moment, looked out at a diverse audiences and said she could “feel the change,” I’ll admit that I wept.

I’ve heard good things about this Spider film & these winners seem like chaotic goofballs, so I’m all for them winning.

One year in, @timesupnow has grown far past the entertainment industry. But don’t discount its initial achievement: catapulting actresses from retrograde figures to the forefront of gender progress.

The ballroom where they have the #goldenglobes seems so cramped every year. I hope one day the fire brigade comes in and shuts it down mid-show.

Sandra Oh as she closed the Golden Globes monologue: “I said yes to the fear of being on this stage tonight because — because I wanted to be here to look out into this audience and witness this moment of change.” pic.twitter.com/sEkkZ8whDZ

@alfonsocuaron – not just a great director. So articulate and intelligent about what he does and why. Emerging filmmakers: listen and learn! (And #roma is just amazing btw…)

Dick Clark literally said on Howard Stern once, that the smart thing he ever did, was the Golden Globes. He took the inconsequential Hollywood Foreign Press, and turned those 22 (or whatever) assholes, and made it a whole fucking event. People got drunk, some people watched it, and WELCOME TO AWARD SEASON EVERYBODY! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Because even if the award is essentially meaningless (I believe it’s 90 people in the HFPA), it’s still a really entertaining show.
C’mon, I get enough signs of the apocalypse in the hard news pages, now I go to my safe place and find Golden Globe winners Chuck Lorre and Peter Farrely? The earth is just going to open wide.
Hello There, My name is Jerry from Korea. It’s nice to be here!

The Globes are the stand-in for the entertainment press, generally, in the awards line-up. Considering that the entertainment press is a larger, and far more widely read, part of the movie industry than the critics, the show makes sense. The group could be larger and more representative, but I doubt if the group’s reputation would be better if it included entertainment writers from the US.
Seems to me they, the HFPA, at the least, understands that they are in the entertainment industry. More we can say for the pompous Academy.
