The supporting categories are so wide open this year… I assume critics hate it (what if they get it “wrong” and no one else agrees with them? scary to think about).
Sasha Stone. Moneyball #1. Classic.
Sasha Stone is way too clouded by her own feelings for a movie.
Christopher Plummer all the way. I usually dislike the ra-ra atmosphere of awards season, but the man has had a helluva career. This last decade (starting with The Insider) has been his best, and his performance in Beginners is amazing.
The scene where he is on the hospital bed and learns he has terminal cancer, watching his face turn green and react to the news, is award-worthy on its own.
