  1. Tuck Pendelton says:

The BFCA awards on Thur I think will be very informative. If Artist wins Pic and Director and Bejo win Supporting. This could get interesting.

If Pitt wins Actor, I think you’ll see the “inevitable” conversation start up.

Frankly, the only sure-bet I see is Christopher Plummer.

    DGA predictions:

    Hazanavicius
    Scorsese
    Spielberg
    Allen
    Fincher

  3. Krillian says:

Randy Newman’s theme to We Need to Talk About Kevin.

  4. Ivan says:

Nobody predicted David Fincher is in? Well he is! And Woody, too!

  5. Warren says:

I can’t believe that the audacious brilliance of Terrance Malick was ignored!

  6. waterbucket says:

What’s more surprising: D-Po’s overestimation of War Horse or Stone’s underestimation of The Artist?

  7. Steven Kaye says:

Midnight in Paris is top 5.

And nearly $150 million worldwide from an $18 million budget.

  8. Stephen Holt says:

Congratulations of Michel Hazanaviscius, who has done the almost impossible! Breaking into the inner circles of Hollywood, by directing a totally original COMEDY, Black and White and Silent! I still can’t get over it!

And Woody is nommed, too! WOW! What a great day for comedy!

And nobody predicted Fincher would get nominated! None of the GoGs I mean. Ooops!

  9. Tuck Pendelton says:

Bold Prediction: Spielberg gets Oscar nod for directing, but not Fincher.

  10. Yancy Berns says:

To the above guy linking to the youtube video lampooning Randy Newman: Know your history, dude. The guy is one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century, as evidenced by his controversial, scathingly satirical albums of the early 1970s. The Pixar stuff is just gravy, but way to show utter cultural ignorance. (Sorry to be cranky, but the man is a fucking genius, and I hate to see him defined by the movie songs…)

  11. Matt says:

God, I hated War Horse. Worst Spielberg film in a long time – and I saw the last Indy film. So glad its award chances are diminishing. 🙂
