If this bears out Sasha Stone takes the title from Karger with her steadfast support of Lincoln.
Argo for BP
David O Russell for Director
Though a reverse of 1998 with Lincoln winning BP and Russell winning Director would be pretty funny.
Might as well take a stab at ranking while I wait for this friday night render to finish.
Director
1. O Russell
2. Lee
3. Spielberg
4. Zeitlin
5. Haneke
While Haneke will engender some love amongst the minority of the academy that embraces the arthouse every year, I can’t imagine such a polarizing film will really succeed across the body as a hole. I don’t see Spielberg getting number 3 when Russell is sort of hitting a career peak (and has Weinstein) and Lee only has one. What a win Zeitlin would be.
ranking these nine films is actually pretty tough, much harder than director!
1. Argo – the snubbing of Affleck generated too much goodwill for Harvey to overcome. On the other hand, the fat man has more time to play than he ever had before, could be an advantage or disastrous if there’s pushback.
2. Silver Linings Playbook
3. Lincoln
4. Life of Pi
5. Les Miserables
6. Beasts of the Southern Wild
7. Django Unchained
8. Zero Dark Thirty (guess they should put one of those lame-ass title cards on black (that were used throughout the film to elide years at a time) in between the torture and the confession, problem solved, controversy dead, everyone thinks it happens years after the torture rather than the torture causing the leaked info)
9. Amour
