Music Box Films acquires LE WEEKEND, directed by Roger Michel and starring Jim Broadbent, Lindsay Duncan and Jeff Goldblum

Chicago, IL, January 29, 2013 — Music Box Films has acquired all US rights to LE WEEKEND, directed by Roger Michel (‘Hyde Park on Hudson’) from a script by Hanif Kureishi, and starring Academy Award-winner Jim Broadbent, Lindsay Duncan and Jeff Goldblum.  The film recently finished shooting in Paris and will be released theatrically this summer. 

LE WEEKEND is a beautifully observed and poignant story of a long-married British couple (Broadbent and Duncan) who return to Paris for the first time since their honeymoon to revitalize their marriage. While there, they run into an old friend (Goldblum) who transforms their thoughts on life and their love for one another.
 
The deal was negotiated by Embankment Films’ Tim Haslan with Music Box Films’ William Schopf and Ed Arentz.

“We could not resist getting involved in this project after reading the smart, moving and funny script by Hanif Kureishi, knowing director Roger Michel’s work particularly their wonderful previous collaborations THE MOTHER and VENUS, and picturing this super talented cast playing these roles,” says Arentz. “This was a movie we wanted to see and feel certain we will have plenty of company.”
 
Music Box Films plans a summer 2013 release.
