FilmBuff to release acclaimed films on VOD platforms weeks ahead of street dates
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
‘The Wild Hunt’ and ‘Zonad’ Going Digital Before DVD
New York, NY – April 5, 2011 – FilmBuff, a digital entertainment curation service offered by Cinetic Rights Management (CRM), announced today that two upcoming releaseswill be made available on video-on-demand platforms several weeks ahead of their DVD release. The two full-length feature films are Alexandre Franchi’s award-winning thriller “The Wild Hunt,” and John Carney & Kiernan Carney’s acclaimed sci-fi comedy “Zonad.”
“In the home entertainment market, there’s no one distribution outlet that conquers all right now, and we feel strongly that when you have the right film it makes sense to treat each window and platform as an event,” said Matt Dentler, the Head of Content for FilmBuff. “Both of these films are great examples of work that can make a big impact on various VOD platforms, as well as with DVD stores.”
“The Wild Hunt,” which won a prize at its 2009 premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, will be released on both cable video-on-demand (Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon, AT&T, etc.) as well as broadband video-on-demand (iTunes, Xbox, Playstation, Vudu, etc.) starting April 19. The stylish film is set in the world of live action role playing, and tells the story of a medieval reenactment game that turns into tragedy when a non-player crashes the event to win back his girlfriend. “The Wild Hunt” will be released on DVD, through FilmBuff’s partnership with MPI, on June 7.
“Zonad,” is the follow-up feature from “Once” director John Carney, working alongside Kiernan Carney. A hit at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, the film follows a misfit discovered in a small Irish town, who is believed to be an alien named Zonad. As Zonad hilariously endears himself to the townspeople, he’s conflicted with his encounters of both love and opposition. “Zonad” will be available on cable video-on-demand (Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon, AT&T, etc.) as well as broadband video-on-demand (iTunes, Xbox, Playstation, Vudu, etc.) on June 21. The FilmBuff DVD will be hit stores on July 19.
