“He was a unique, positive force and I owe him an enormous debt. Had he not backed Bleak Moments, our whole subsequent careers could well never have happened.”
Mike Leigh Remembers Albert Finney, The Man Who Made Him
If the Academy wants to shorten the telecast,
They should start by cutting speeches by the
Academy president, the head of the MPAA and
Price-Waterhouse. There should only be one
Presenter per category. And they should be Preset.

In the history of CINEMA, masterpieces have existed without sound, without color, without a story, without actors and without music. No one single film has ever existed without CINEMAtography and without editing.

“The truth will come out about my motivations and how much I believe in Jeff and Lauren’s love. It’s a legendary romance that will blow your mind as to just how in love they are. Jeff never blinked about losing $70 billion.”
Bezos Considered Buying National Enquirer Owner AMI Under The Corporate Moniker Of BOBO LLC
“Regarding your concerns of “misinformation” and “inaccurate reporting”: Our protest letter of February 13 was created by a small group of ASC members directly referencing a copy of President Bailey’s February 11 letter, as well as the AMPAS Mission Statement. There was simply no room for misinterpretation, misrepresentation or inaccuracy. And the media has reported well on this issue and should be commended for airing both sides equally. The other concern is exactly how the Academy came to this decision.”
Cinematographers Slap Academy Succotash
“People need to calm down about it before the Oscars and we only have like 10 days,” says Mary Zophres. “What worries me more is actual unrest in the building before, during or after. So they need to make sure that everybody is under control.”
Fear of a Battle for the Dolby
“Sometimes, if the pants are too fitted, he’ll blow out the crotch just by trying to get in his car.”
Putting Dwayne Johnson In Pants
“Over four years — as president and, for 18 months, chief executive — he oversaw the creation of Disney Channel, the company’s cable network. He established Touchstone Pictures as a vehicle to release films targeted to adults, scoring a quick hit with Splash. Miller also acquired a real estate company that helped Disney develop land near its Disney World complex in Lake Buena Vista, and brought the company closer to an agreement to open a Disney theme park in France. But it was not enough.”

Taking a step back to grasp that this is the crazy world we now live in:
"I have been told that the Amazon investigation determined that I was not involved in the leak of the d*ck pics, because I never had access to any of the d*ck pics.”

For the record: No. This story was accurately reported and has been since this boneheaded move was first announced months ago. And citing "misinformation" as the culprit is shoddy.

When shading the AMPAS about the Oscar telecast, I also said the incredible work they do with preservation and archiving is worth any amount of awards show silliness/controversy. I’ve also spent many hours in the Academy library—amazing.

The Academy Award for Best Cinematography dates back 90 years to the very first Oscars, where it was won by Charles Rosher and Karl Struss for Sunrise. It is one of only three original award categories that still exist under the same name at the modern Academy Awards pic.twitter.com/RS09RoHSOV

The frame is sacred. The way 2 frames join gives it life. Without the frame and the joining of it there is no cinema. Wake up, oscars. Don’t hide these critical awards behind commercials.

“Unfortunately, as the result of inaccurate reporting and social media posts, there has been a chain of misinformation that has understandably upset many Academy members. We’d like to restate and explain the plans for presenting the awards, as endorsed by the Academy’s Board of Governors.”

Literally find me a woman in the music industry who *hasn't* had a some dude pull that Ryan Adams "I wanna help you" with strings attached shit? And like in this story, these are some of the reasons women abandon careers, keep their dreams private, record in their bedrooms alone.

Thank you @IMDb for making your website completely unusable thanks to obnoxious adverts that subvert functionality. Good luck with that.

“The Academy should push everybody out of business in terms of the awards. There’s one award that matters and that’s the only thing to protect. There’s nothing else that matters.”
“Business Insider spoke to past Oscar show producers, Academy voters, and producers of other live TV shows to investigate what has gone wrong.”
You’d think, idk, Lady Gaga, who cares passionately about fairness, or the Marvel actors who stake their career on the “great power/great responsibility” theme, just might have a word or a NYT ad about this.

If I don't get to see every Oscar winner accept his/her award in real time, why should I watch the Oscarcast? Seriously: Why don't I simply keep track of the winners on Twitter while I watch a movie on Netflix? Or go see a movie in a theater, and check out who won afterwards?
— Joe Leydon (@JoeLeydon) February 13, 2019
One of many things that doesn't track about this Osca decision: AMPAS says it is streaming the given-during-commercials awards live. In other words, it's encouraging viewers to turn away from ads on ABC if they want to see all the awards. How is ABC okay with that? #PresentAll24
— Mark Harris (@MarkHarrisNYC) February 12, 2019
How’s about we just shit-can the Oscars all together and everyone just be satisfied with getting to make movies for a living?
