Are global cumes ever going to be added to these weekend estimates? With how well “Zootopia” is doing in China, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Disney’s now scrambling to replace all of Stars Wars IV II II’s stormtroopers with adorable CGI pandas.
Don’t you mean adorable CGI bunnies, PC?

Can I talk about how bad Cloverfield Lane is? Such an interesting premise. And instead it’s a less compelling “Valencia” with 10 minutes of Cloverfield tackily pasted on in the last ten minutes (this didn’t bother me much, but it’s also nonsensical, as characters are dialing an iPhone6 during events that presumably took place in 2008. Or is this a bizarre parallel universe where iPhones don’t have cameras and Manhattan hipsters rock out to T-Pain and 50 Cent in 2016). The original premise sounded much better, but I guess people dig it, and it helped boost the box office. If it helps raise the profile of the criminally underused Mary Elizabeth Winstead, I guess it’s fine.

I thought that Alice would be Disney’s Caspian size disappointment this year, but after seeing the trailer for Pete’s Dragon, ugh. Where are the songs? the mean hillbillys? the drunken vaudeville actors? Do they have no respect for the source material? They took the one decent movie they made during the entire seventies and turned it into what…. some somber whispery Potter chosen one ripoff?
