Hey that chick on the left isn’t even hot.
    LOHAN = TOTAL RAGER.

  2. mutinyco says:

McCain’s bounce is over. Obama’s up by 2%.

  3. EOTW says:

Christ, I’m tired of this shit.

  4. frankbooth says:

There’s an easy solution to that, EOTW.

  5. LexG says:

OWN-O-METER rankings from left to right:
    Negative 4 billion, 9.75, 11, and 8.

  6. EOTW says:

Probably so, FB, but forgive me for thinking this was a site about movies. I don’t have a problem with the once in a while post about something else, even if it’s political, but Dave’s made it clear who he supports, do we need the constant pounding over the head about it? We get it, Palin’s worse than Osama, she’s worse than Hitler. We understand this. Still, you can’t even click on these pages to even get to the movie stuff without having to see McCain as a vampire zombie or another anti-Palin post.
DP: Ain’t slamming you. I LOVE your sites and you are easily one of the best guys around this business, even if I don’t agree with you on evey film. I always read what you think, even if I disagree.
Just so tired of this stuff. I wish bloggers could put two links on their page, one for political stuff and one for whatever it is they used to do.

Finally, some balance on this site. Linking to an intellectually-vacant hit piece starring random people insulting Palin (with a healthy pinch of elitist belittlement aimed at ‘Wal-mart folk’), to show that the left can be as petty and mean-spirited as they claim Republicans are.
    Thanks for posting.

  8. mutinyco says:

The only thing “mean” about that picture is that Lacey Chabert got Photoshopped…

  9. yancyskancy says:

    This blog is so fetch.

  10. R Scott R says:

“White folks’ greed runs a world in need.”
    — Obama is quoting from a sermon by Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
I figured out why Obama is the candidate of change. His brother lives in Kenya on 12 dollars a year.
“I am the candidate of change. Anybody have change for a five? I want to send a months salary to my brother.” (Okay, I made that up, but it’s funny, admit it.)
Democrats are only liberal with tax payers money.
Joe Biden never gave more than one percent of his earnings to charity.

  11. jeffmcm says:

    Troll.

  12. IOIOIOI says:

Not a troll as much as he’s a dumbass. Go read the article about Obama’s half-brother in Kenya. The dude wants nothing to do with Obama because he believes that he needs to do more with his own life, then being his brother.
This is why the right are like JOE. THEY LIE! THEY LIE! WHILE PEOPLE DIE!

  13. mysteryperfecta says:

“The dude wants nothing to do with Obama because he believes that he needs to do more with his own life.”
Plus, it sounds like he’s conservative.

  14. jeffmcm says:

Guys, there seem to be multiple Obama half-brothers. One lives in a slum in Kenya, another sounds like a middle-class village dweller, another is a British Muslim. I’m sure there are more that I didn’t find on my cursory search.

  15. jeffmcm says:

Ooh! There’s another one who’s a leftist militant.
In other words, R Scott R could have trolled SO MUCH HARDER if he had done his research.

  16. mysteryperfecta says:

What does Obama think of his father? He sounds like kind of a deadbeat. Good thing that Barry had some solid family structure to support him.

  17. mutinyco says:

Yeah, well, he certainly turned out a bit better than Bristol Palin…

  18. Is this thing working? Is this thing on? My computer at work wigged out and I lost my login stuff….derrr. Anyway…
We recently moved to a new neighborhood and one of the folks who live in our complex had a Guliani 08 sticker on their car. O.k…fine. Whatever. They also have stickers that say “No Offshore Drilling” and some innane old Oakland A’s sticker.
But the other day my wife and I noticed they had peeled off the Guliani sticker. We actively wondered what the deal was an my guess was that they were fed up and a Ron Paul sticker would soon appear. Her, always the more idealistic/positive of the 2 of us opted to think an Obama sticker might slide on.
Last night we came home to discover a sticker that sayd PALIN in a huge font and McCain above her name realllly small. It’s basically a Palin sticker.
Keep in mind they still have the “No Offshore Drilling” sticker on their car as well. Just goes to show that people are fucking idiots everywhere, even in liberal Northern CA. Also makes me really start to think McCain is gonna take this thing.
The negatives, lies and basic out-to-lunchiness of this campaign just flies right over the heads of people not paying attention. And those righties who are paying attention simply refuse to see the truth. Sad state of affairs I tells ya.

  19. IOIOIOI says:

Don; they are paying attention. You know what else did not exist 4 years ago when Kerry clearly handed Bush his ass? YOUTUBE! ONLINE VIRAL VIDEO! So there you go. TICK… TICK… TICK… OH SHIT! SARAH PALIN IS BEING CHASED BY A COUGAR!

  20. mysteryperfecta says:

“Yeah, well, he certainly turned out a bit better than Bristol Palin…”
mutinyco- Unclinch, please. And a modicum of tact, if possible. My comment was a nod of admiration to Obama’s family. Growing up without a father is an obstacle, and they did well to fill the gap.
You just can’t help yourself, can you?

  21. mutinyco says:

Please, Mystery. The comment from you that I replied to referred to Barack as “Barry”…

  22. mysteryperfecta says:

“Please, Mystery. The comment from you that I replied to referred to Barack as “Barry”…”
So? Isn’t that his nickname? I’ve heard others causually refer to him as Barry. It wasn’t an insult.

mystery I don’t know if you’re aware of this piece or if you’ve already read it, but it contains a lot of information about Obama and his biological father. He only met him once, years ago. It’s an interesting read.

  24. L.B. says:

To be fair, Barry was/is the name his family used at least while he was growing up. Now, a lot of people use it now in an insulting manner and I wasn’t sure if mystery was being sarcastic in his remark at first, but I think he was trying to be straight-forward with what he said. Political differences aside, mystery doesn’t snipe and isn’t given to playground tactics. Call it a draw?

  25. Cadavra says:

“Democrats are only liberal with tax payers money.”
Right. It was the Democrats who’ve wasted half a trillion dollars pre-emptively invading a third-world country that had neither the desire nor the ability to attack us.
It’s the Democrats who will spend hundreds of billions bailing out failed banks and lending firms.
And it was the Democrats who spent $70 million impeaching Bill Clinton for a couple of blow jobs.
Please write back when you arrive in the real world.

It shows how out of it I was in trying to be in it, acknowledging that I was out of it to myself, and then thinking, “Okay, how do I stop being out of it? Well, I get some legitimate illogical narrative ideas” — some novel, you know?

So I decided on three writers that I might be able to option their material and get some producer, or myself as producer, and then get some writer to do a screenplay on it, and maybe make a movie.

And so the three projects were “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep,” “Naked Lunch” and a collection of Bukowski. Which, in 1975, forget it — I mean, that was nuts. Hollywood would not touch any of that, but I was looking for something commercial, and I thought that all of these things were coming.

There would be no Blade Runner if there was no Ray Bradbury. I couldn’t find Philip K. Dick. His agent didn’t even know where he was. And so I gave up.

I was walking down the street and I ran into Bradbury — he directed a play that I was going to do as an actor, so we know each other, but he yelled “hi” — and I’d forgot who he was.

So at my girlfriend Barbara Hershey’s urging — I was with her at that moment — she said, “Talk to him! That guy really wants to talk to you,” and I said “No, fuck him,” and keep walking.

But then I did, and then I realized who it was, and I thought, “Wait, he’s in that realm, maybe he knows Philip K. Dick.” I said, “You know a guy named—” “Yeah, sure — you want his phone number?”

My friend paid my rent for a year while I wrote, because it turned out we couldn’t get a writer. My friends kept on me about, well, if you can’t get a writer, then you write.”
~ Hampton Fancher

“That was the most disappointing thing to me in how this thing was played. Is that I’m on the phone with you now, after all that’s been said, and the fundamental distinction between what James is dealing with in these other cases is not actually brought to the fore. The fundamental difference is that James Franco didn’t seek to use his position to have sex with anyone. There’s not a case of that. He wasn’t using his position or status to try to solicit a sexual favor from anyone. If he had — if that were what the accusation involved — the show would not have gone on. We would have folded up shop and we would have not completed the show. Because then it would have been the same as Harvey Weinstein, or Les Moonves, or any of these cases that are fundamental to this new paradigm. Did you not notice that? Why did you not notice that? Is that not something notable to say, journalistically? Because nobody could find the voice to say it. I’m not just being rhetorical. Why is it that you and the other critics, none of you could find the voice to say, “You know, it’s not this, it’s that”? Because — let me go on and speak further to this. If you go back to the L.A. Times piece, that’s what it lacked. That’s what they were not able to deliver. The one example in the five that involved an issue of a sexual act was between James and a woman he was dating, who he was not working with. There was no professional dynamic in any capacity.
