  1. Sam says:

Anybody remember The Daily David? Maybe if David is burnt out on columns, he could revive that for a while.

  2. The Pope says:

    Sam,
I second that emotion. We all understand that life changes us and different things happen to point or pull us in different directions. Well, first middle and last, the reason why I was pulled here was because of David’s Daily Doses. I really enjoyed reading them and I miss them. But now that their frequency has changed, they read as quenching drinks in the desert. I just wish there were more water stations along the way because I really enjoy this site and the way it is curated.

watched – DP/30 @ TIFF ’12: Byzantium, director Neil Jordan, actor Saoirse Ronan

    – this was fine but Neill Jordan put me to sleep twice.
he might be amazing director but he’s dull and boring…
and i’ve seen other boring directors but he was extra boring.

DP/30: Paperman, director John Kahrs – this was fine
but this should have been 15 minutes.

DP/30 @ Sundance ’13: Touchy Feely – this blew my mind that Ellen Page said so little. the only time where i wanted DP to tell an actor to leave the interview.
K-Stew is always akward in her interviews but Ellen put
out a whole different type of awkward.

    DP/30 @ Sundance ’13: Ass Backwards – this is a classic sundance dp/30 – fun and interesting.

if you guys love movies or interviews or interviews about movies – you should really check out more dp/30’s ..
DP really doesn’t do the greatest job at promoting these things. DP spends like millions of dollars going to all these movie festivals with all the fancy hotels.

my favorite interviewer ever is still Stephen Colbert – he’s 25 times better than DP .

also Jeff Prost tv show got cancelled. they gave the guy
who hosts survivor reality tv series a afternoon talk show.

also Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012) is on PBS this weekend – check it out . woo hoo free documentary.

  4. cadavra says:

Well, he DOES have a wife and small child now…

  5. Ripon Kumar says:

Army Wives S1–awesome film by Actor Daniel Bostic.A real acting by Daniel Bostic. I am real fan of Daniel Bostic. His Movie is really entertaining.Waiting for his coming movies
    https://twitter.com/debostic
    https://www.facebook.com/actordanielbostic

  6. sanj says:

Jason Reitman makes actors read movies. he’s been doing it for a long time ..i’m not sure how he can make millions of this…i guess actors like it cause they feel special and its theatre acting and stuff. i don’t quite get this. movies are movies and not something you put on old timey radio.

    does anybody like this ?

    American Beauty script reading

  7. movieman says:

You can practically hear the tumbleweeds blowing in the wind……..

  8. sanj says:

check out the low tech graphics backgrounds – who’s bright idea was this ? they should get a dp/30 …somebody must have spent hours just on the graphics …directing could have been so much better.

Rihanna – Diamonds (Live on SNL)

  9. sanj says:

i missed the streamys …. after checking the winners list – its mostly a lot of professional actors / directors who win these things .. burning love had the most real actors and won the most awards .

also the awards show is 2.5 hours long. crazy. they could do whatever they want cause they are on the internets.

95% of these people who are on the streamys didn’t get a dp/30 .. people on youtube continue to be totally worthless to DP …

streamys are sponsored by coke and yet there’s not enough coke logos…. winners probably got free coke.
shouldn’t some giant computer company sponsor this and give away real computers so these people can make even more content…

huge fan of Chris Hardwick but he’s everywhere on the internets.

quickly went through the streamys – they have live music from people that aren’t Taylor Swift. woo.

  10. sanj says:

over 100 videos of actors signing autographs for regular people – this seems very uncomforable for the actors –
most of them don’t talk to fans – most videos are under 30 seconds – actors are always in a rush either to get into a building or get into a car .

i wanna see a dp30 where DP interviews actors while signing autographs for the full interview. lets see how
    that goes.

    topix autographs …

  11. sanj says:

    watched – DP/30 @ Sundance: Blue Caprice

    this is classic sundance dp30 . 8.5/10

    – the hug and phone thing was interesting and funny

    – too bad you didn’t get the other two actors who were
there as well – Joey Lauren Adams, Tim Blake Nelson

    – my only problem is the movie trailer shows nothing.
    maybe thats the point.

  12. sanj says:

this is interesting – ET spent like month talking about
Michael Jackson’s death and showing his death photos over and over again… also some teen kid with no experience
can talk to big name actors. why aren’t more important movie critics mad ?

“Prince Michael Jackson, the eldest child of late pop superstar Michael Jackson, has landed a gig as a correspondent for veteran newsmagazine “Entertainment Tonight.” The 16-year-old’s first assignment is interviewing actors James Franco and Zach Braff and director Sam Raimi for their upcoming movie “Oz: The Great and Powerful.”

  13. cadavra says:

“So, my father: Great performer, or greatest performer?”

  14. sanj says:

this ain’t good – the power of celebrity .

Prince Michael Jackson on ET – 2 minute clip

  15. sanj says:

2 minute video – oscar nominated – PES needs a dp/30 – i’ve seen most of his other videos. all cool and different.
    DP get on this.

    “Fresh Guacamole” – PES

  16. YancySkancy says:

That could actually be *great* news for Lex. If K-Stew’s self-esteem takes enough of a hit, she may rush to the arms of the one who has always stood by and defended her, through thick and thin.

  17. anghus says:

i dont really read EW anymore, but there’s something weird happening on their website. The comments sections are being taken over by people hurling attacks at ‘Cagle’. I had to look it up. It’s funny, when you google ‘ew cagle’, look at the first result that comes up. I had no idea who he was until today. Apparently he’s quite loathed.

  18. sanj says:

oscars are coming very soon – whats DP doing – i’m guessing 100 worldwide radio interviews.

chances are most movie sites are going to crash because of all the traffic – if mcn crashes – does DP yell at the tech guys at midnight ?

plus seth macfarlane is the oscar host – how many ted / family guy dvds can he sell right after the oscars .

also every interview i read with mila kunis she really hates the paparazzi taking pictures of her. she said
this in a dp30 as well . i’m like – stop being so hot.

also i’m not sure what to make of the dozen oscar nominees that didn’t rush out and give DP a interview.
they don’t care. they are actors and directors and they are super rich and famous and don’t need DP at all for anything.

also i’ve probably seen 200 dp/30’s or something. one day i might use this knowledge or something.

  19. Lex says:

I know in my heart Kristen is the sexiest woman alive.

Except maybe for Rooney or Bella H.

  20. sanj says:

    watched – DP/30 @ Sundance ’13: Inequality For All,

    – last 10 minutes are blank

    – DP really let these guys talk

    – this was rich vs poor – but there wasn’t enough examples.just generic terms like wall street …
there wasn’t enough names of how theee super rich evil
corporations are … apple? best buy ? banks ?
DP should have asked better questions about the business
side of things cause DP actually knows business

    – pretty good audio

    – this will just end up on pbs months from now

    – i give this 7/10

also Mark Boal – he’s done a few dramas now that have
gotten awards but i want to see this guy make a comedy.

also – Jake Tapper has a new show called the lead on cnn.
arg. cnn just can’t find somebody new and fresh . they keep grabbing other people from other networks .
look at Katie Couric – was on the today show for like 25 years. probably could have gone to cnn . now she has 1 hour taklshow… if you have 10 years of cable news experience – its super hard to let go of being on tv.
someitmes they seem worse than all these reality stars on tv. you know why ? cause all the endless promos about
    how amazing they are.

there’s a few local reporters on local news that i find better than most of the people on cnn – cause they actually report the news and don’t go on and on .

do you have any cable tv people you really like or hate ?

new documentary about the news and them being evil .

    DP – get a dp30 for this …

    Shadows of Liberty – Trailer

  21. sanj says:

when DP writes about the oscars – its like he’s evolved into some super professor that should teach at harvard
like you’d have to spend 100 hours just to understand
the behine the scenes on who gets picked winner.

students in DP’s oscar class would fail if they don’t agree that ZDT is the most amazing film ever and DP has seen it dozen times and he knows every single thing …just like super geeks who know every detail about star wars … in DP’s world – Kathryn Bigelow is the queen – Mark Boal is the king and Jessica Chastain is the princess.

with some oscar blogs / sites – people who love talking oscar … there little obession is just as crazy as LexG’s with K-Stew – except they can get away with it cause they are journalists.

if argo wins i can totally see DP burning his copies of Gigli and Ben would be banned for life – he won’t be getting any more dp/30’s .

if the gurus of gold want to remain somewhat objective – they should get rid of 50% of people and replace them with other movies critics every year. balance things out.
    but that won’t happen.

  22. sanj says:

Soledad O’Brien out at cnn . she did the morning news.

DP – grab her to do dp/30’s …she’s a journalist so you
know she’s good . let her do all the teen movies.

It shows how out of it I was in trying to be in it, acknowledging that I was out of it to myself, and then thinking, “Okay, how do I stop being out of it? Well, I get some legitimate illogical narrative ideas” — some novel, you know?

So I decided on three writers that I might be able to option their material and get some producer, or myself as producer, and then get some writer to do a screenplay on it, and maybe make a movie.

And so the three projects were “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep,” “Naked Lunch” and a collection of Bukowski. Which, in 1975, forget it — I mean, that was nuts. Hollywood would not touch any of that, but I was looking for something commercial, and I thought that all of these things were coming.

There would be no Blade Runner if there was no Ray Bradbury. I couldn’t find Philip K. Dick. His agent didn’t even know where he was. And so I gave up.

I was walking down the street and I ran into Bradbury — he directed a play that I was going to do as an actor, so we know each other, but he yelled “hi” — and I’d forgot who he was.

So at my girlfriend Barbara Hershey’s urging — I was with her at that moment — she said, “Talk to him! That guy really wants to talk to you,” and I said “No, fuck him,” and keep walking.

But then I did, and then I realized who it was, and I thought, “Wait, he’s in that realm, maybe he knows Philip K. Dick.” I said, “You know a guy named—” “Yeah, sure — you want his phone number?”

My friend paid my rent for a year while I wrote, because it turned out we couldn’t get a writer. My friends kept on me about, well, if you can’t get a writer, then you write.”
~ Hampton Fancher

“That was the most disappointing thing to me in how this thing was played. Is that I’m on the phone with you now, after all that’s been said, and the fundamental distinction between what James is dealing with in these other cases is not actually brought to the fore. The fundamental difference is that James Franco didn’t seek to use his position to have sex with anyone. There’s not a case of that. He wasn’t using his position or status to try to solicit a sexual favor from anyone. If he had — if that were what the accusation involved — the show would not have gone on. We would have folded up shop and we would have not completed the show. Because then it would have been the same as Harvey Weinstein, or Les Moonves, or any of these cases that are fundamental to this new paradigm. Did you not notice that? Why did you not notice that? Is that not something notable to say, journalistically? Because nobody could find the voice to say it. I’m not just being rhetorical. Why is it that you and the other critics, none of you could find the voice to say, “You know, it’s not this, it’s that”? Because — let me go on and speak further to this. If you go back to the L.A. Times piece, that’s what it lacked. That’s what they were not able to deliver. The one example in the five that involved an issue of a sexual act was between James and a woman he was dating, who he was not working with. There was no professional dynamic in any capacity.
