Weekend Estimates by Klady – Joe, Julie, G

wkndest080909.png
Not much more to say than was said yesterday. GI Joe opened… hitting profit still looks like a challenge. Julie & Julia‘s opening is a little soft, but it will rely on legs and foreign. Funny People didn’t recover much from its 70% Fri-to-Fri.

Hitting profit? Who gives a shit? Who gives a fuck? Your work would be much more entertaining and enjoyable to read. If you would get off this entire fucking “THE END IS NIGH… BWAAAAAAAAHHH!!!” Seriously, things will sort itself out, but you have apparently hit that FEAR part of life.
Well, I’m sorry you got old and became afraid of everything. Hopefully a new change in scenery in your life, will help you gain the positivity sorely lacking from your work for well over a year now.

IO… I have to say… you are just a silly schmuck stuck somewhere dark.
I have written more about the end not being nigh than anyone you can point to… I have written in some detail about how we over and under reach in the media in covering this business… but your geek OCD doesn’t register anything for more than a second, like a puppy who got hit in the head with a hammer.
Perhaps this is why you think I would pay attention to your “advice” about Super Movie Friends a few hours after you maliciously and worthlessly attacked the entire idea.
You had faded from memory for a while there, but lately you seem reinvigorated in your screaming antics that don’t bother with being in touch with any reality… even realities that disagree with my opinions as much as you claim to.
Your fear is evident in everything you write, masked man. You are terrified of engaging ideas in a mature way, so you just puff up and piss out like a raging 7 year old looking for a fight in the schoolyard. Sack up, boy. You’re a bit out of your league here.
See you in the funny papers.

My analysis: http://piaofang.blogspot.com/2009/08/weekend-analysis-aug-7-9-gi-joe-and.html. I think both G.I. Joe and Julie and Julia are success. The latter shouldn’t be considered soft given its theater count of only 2,300+ instead of 2,900 original reported.

  4. IOIOIOI says:

Oh snap. This silly fucker thinks he can play. David, you are much more talented than many of your contemporaries, that have become more famous (and possibly rich) than you ever will be. It’s a shame, but what can I do to attack you. Which you have not already done to yourself? Guess what? You have a niche. Good for you, David. Good for you.
Also, if I am ever in LA. We can do a lunch with David, and I will give you the best 30 minutes of footage you will ever have. This of course means you have to be challenged by someone, that calls you on your shit to your face. Which I will do… gladly.
Nevertheless, Soul Calibur IV is occasionally better than this place, but where am I screaming outside of my responses to Frank? Please point it out. Oh you cannot. Sorry fella, nice trying, but you are a big bag of suck right now. Here’s hoping September makes you happy.
Oh yeah… PS: If you cannot take criticism, and a serious hope you get better at being on camera. Well, sonny jim, that’s on you.

So Joseph Gordon Levitt’s maniacal laugh was driving me nuts all weekend because I thought to myself…I KNOW I’ve recently heard an even more maniacally over the top laugh in a major studio movie in the last few years….finally it came to me…Mr. Brooks!!!!
God I love that film. The most inexplicably greenlit studio film of the decade perhaps. I remember seeing it with my best friend and going to a party afterwards and employing the Kevin Costner/William Hurt laughter the entire time. We genuinely creeped out everyone there.
    God I love Mr. Brooks.

  6. “Your work would be much more entertaining and enjoyable to read. If you would get off this entire…”
THERE WAS NO NEED FOR A PERIOD THERE!
IO, you seem to be under the delusion that Dave would WANT to spend 30 minutes with you.

Skipped GI Joe. My wife enjoyed Julie & Julia (just enjoyed, she said) and I still haven’t seen The Cove yet.
Funny People got the fate it deserved. Absolutely zero sympathy on that one.

  8. The Big Perm says:

DP, you simply MUST put IO on camera.
