I have to say congrats to Focus on getting Miss Pettigrew to 10 million, which is no mean feat for a very Btitish, somewhat stagy piece.
I was really hoping Run, Fatboy Run was going to do better. I have a fondness for Simon Pegg and Michael Ian Black. Maybe they should wait to start pushing Pegg movies until after the Star Trek movie comes out and more people might know who he is.
Run Fatboy Run already made it’s money back on Foreign. The whole release felt like a strong DVD push rather than them hoping for a home run theatrically.
It only cost 10 million to make, and it made 24 million overseas (mostly from the UK i imagine).
It’ll do well on DVD.
Sounds like a good plan – make a movie with U.S. dollars and sell it to the U.K. for their pounds. It’s like making money off the exchange rate. ;>
It’s a shame, Run seems like my kind of movie, and it was dumped. Stardust was my favorite of the summer and it was dumped. I’m starting to feel like I should move to England to get movies aimed at me.

That seems fitting enough, since the movie itself feels for all the world like a direct-to-video quickie. I had a few friends who were really amped for this because they thought it was going to be another SOTD/Hot Fuzz — I didn’t have the heart to tell ’em…
Didn’t see 21, catch Run Fatboy Run instead. It’s a RomCom but it’s not bad for that genre. Should have done alot better in the box office
I almost went to “Doomsday” but decided Sunday morning not to go. Smart decision for me.
“Run Fat Boy Run” (spelling used by BOMojo and MovieTickets.com) had its US release pushed back from last fall. Picturehouse opened it arthouse/megaplex, so the low PTA means it floppped where arty fare doesn’t work.
“Run Fatboy Run” — the title used by the people who made the movie.
Saw RFBR this afternoon. Dreadul. Glum and predictable, with as unappealing a “hero” as you could imagine and a climax that takes the word “contrived” to a new level. Plus the requisite barrage of farting, vomiting, balls-kicking and shower/locker-room scene where someone stands agape at another man’s enormous penis (second time I’ve seen this “joke” in four days). If this is what passes for “adult romantic comedy” these days, I’m throwing in the towel.
That should be “dreadful,” of course.
“Dreadul” is an apt portmanteau, though.
I’m not surprised about Pegg (this isn’t a huge climbdown for him, given some of the other crap he’s done), but I think Thandie Newton needs to tread cautiously — doing this and Norbit back-to-back doesn’t bode well.
